A summary list of the documentation inventoried
The archive consists of the following distinct funds.
The Municipal Fund
In the general guide of the archives of Umbria, recently published, the archives of the city of San Gemini are made up of 505 archival units, with chronological ranging from 1398 to 1954.
The fund is further divided into "pre-unification" (until the unification of Italy) and "post-unification" (from 1860 until 1970).
The pre-unification fund, of which this portal presents the different documents digitized, consists of the administrative correspondence (364 envelops), the accounting records, resolutions, circular, church records, books and other miscellaneous documentation.
The oldest documentation is handwritten, partly in Latin and partly in Italian language.
The manuscripts were originally written on loose sheets, hardcovered only in the 17th century.
They were later equipped with indexes and marginalia describing the subject of the documents in Italian.
The Municipal Fund also includes other documents: correspondence, registers, and maps.

The Diplomatic Fund
The diplomatic fund (Archive Judiciary and Diplomatic) is, in fact, part of the municipal fund but is described separately in this portal, to its peculiar nature, since it is formed, to a large extent, from a collection of 20 manuscripts in parchment, mostly copies of papal decrees.
The Notarial Fund
Contains the production of notaries, copies or exhibited, the exhibited books, books of apoche and policies, wills issued to priests, a book of the apostolic visits, inventories and books of various kinds.
It should be noted that the documents previous to the 1458 refer to the documents produced by notaries before the establishment, in 1588, the notarial Archive.
